In a transformative move for Haryana’s technological landscape, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation has unveiled plans to establish a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub, designed to equip 50,000 youth and professionals with advanced skills. Announced during the 2025-26 state budget session by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and addressing the growing demand for tech-savvy talent in India’s rapidly digitizing economy.
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal hailed the project as a “historic leap” for Panchkula, emphasizing its potential to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The hub will offer specialized training modules in machine learning, data analytics, robotics, and AI-driven automation, catering to both fresh graduates and mid-career professionals seeking to future-proof their skills. Collaborations with global tech giants and premier Indian institutions are in the pipeline to ensure world-class curricula and hands-on learning experiences.
A standout feature of the initiative is the Youth Skill Honor Scheme, which promises a ₹10,000 monthly stipend to 2,000 final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students during their internships. This financial support aims to reduce dropout rates and incentivize participation in emerging tech fields. Industry experts predict the hub will not only curb youth migration to tech metros like Bengaluru and Hyderabad but also attract multinational corporations to set up regional offices in Panchkula, leveraging its newly skilled workforce.
The AI hub’s strategic location near the proposed Education City—a 100-acre zone dedicated to higher education institutes—further positions Panchkula as a nerve center for innovation. With Haryana’s GDP soaring from ₹4.37 lakh crore in 2014–15 to ₹12.14 lakh crore in 2024–25, this project aligns with the state’s vision to diversify its economic portfolio beyond traditional sectors like agriculture and manufacturing.
